The year of the “unexpected”!

Welcome!

Passage: Psalm 25

Today: The year of the “unexpected”!

15 Now the day before Saul came, the Lord had revealed to Samuel: 16 “Tomorrow about this time I will send to you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince[c] over my people Israel. He shall save my people from the hand of the Philistines. For I have seen[d] my people, because their cry has come to me.” (1 Samuel 9, ESV)

2013 comes with a lot of “unexpected” stuff like the Pope’s resignation, “heavenly bodies” (asteroids) coming so close to the earth damaging buildings and affecting people, and many others strange-looking incidents

One of the things many people don’t know is that many preachers/leaders hold on to their “secret” views on many things; once revealed, many will be like “what?”

That is what I like about God; He doesn’t wear masks; What God is, is plain to everybody; God was so pleased to reveal Himself to us. The only problem is that we are too busy to learn about Him!

When Israel wanted a king, God was ready to take up that assignment for them, even as it was not in line with God’s plan for them; so, God assigned prophet Samuel to do this “unwanted job”; Samuel just obeyed God and anointed Saul as king

Israel had to pay a price; as soon as Saul came to power, he started hating the “anointed” of God; yet Saul was officially in power for a long time; that was the punishment for Israel; they had to “suffer” Saul for a long time

Many people ask the question, “why wrong people continue, even as they go on doing the wrong things?”

It happens everywhere; in politics, church, job, everywhere; it is not always the right people doing the right job; many people are picked/selected by “who they know”, rather than “what they know”. True justice is available only with God. On the other hand, God’s hand works for those who wait patiently in prayer

David waited a long time, but all that waiting proved to be worth it; there was something new that David learned, even in the last week of his “waiting”, I believe

We may think, “I am due” for something better long time back; but God is at work in us; at the right time, God will do what He has to do

Recently, I was entrusted with a role/responsibility in the church I am part of; but more than the title/name, I am looking at the responsibility and asking God to help me do it faithfully, rather than “sleeping” over it

Are we “sleeping” over any titles/roles we have, just “enjoying” the title?

Remember, God is not sleeping over His role and responsibility; if we are His children, there has to be some similarity somewhere

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: (Lord), 5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long. 6 Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old. 7 Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions; according to your steadfast love remember me, for the sake of your goodness, O Lord! (Psalm 25, ESV)

If we want to do our job/role right, the the first and the best person to consult God, who does His job the best!
