Thank God; storms don’t come to stay!

Welcome!

Passage:  Psalm 86

Today: Thank God; storms don’t come to stay!

8 Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. 9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. 10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. 11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. 12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. 13 For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.[a](Psalm 86, NIV 84)

When someone does something good, we usually don’t bother to tell them that they did something good; we don’t want them to feel too good! But if they do something bad, it is “work” for us, to share the news with others, (except that person)!

That is our basic nature; we do the same to God. Most of us don’t bother to tell God that He is good, or to thank Him often, thinking He is too busy to take all of that (?)

But if something goes wrong, we don’t care, even if we have to bother God 24/7!

That is what happened to Israelites in exit from Egypt; God was so tired of hearing complaints every day that none of the 600, 000 men made it to the promised land, except two- Joshaua and Caleb. That is how seriously God takes it, when we give Him only complaints and no compliments!

If someone is doing something good, it is a good thing to just let them know that; if they “fly little bit high” because of that, it is O.K (!). We should also correct them if they do something wrong; both are needed

Every day, we come across people who tell us how smart they are; they will come and tell us how they saved so much money (sometimes even by cheating) or about how they enjoyed a great preaching and then sneaked out just before the offering….!

But if we are so smart, then how smart our creator should be?

God takes a note of all our smartness and weaknesses.

when we expect a storm , there is a “fear” in our mind

I am sure most of us pray the the Lord for  the safety

But how much are we thankful for the 300 + “good days” in the year?

Look back and thank God for all those “storm-free” days of your life, instead of complaining about the “few” storms you had in your life!

There was long line at the gasoline stations yesterday, because people take precautions and preparations. But then,  we all know specifically about another major event, a world-wide one, not just a north-easterly!

It is the coming of the savior; it can happen any moment!

Are we prepared? Are we thankful to God for every goodness of His?

If not, it will be terrible; we don’t want to be left behind!

It will be a good thing if we can repeat every day, the scripture from psalm 86:8-13

Have a blessed day!

Praise & Prayer:

8 Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. 9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name. 10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. 11 Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. 12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. 13 For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.[a]. (Psalm 86, NIV 84)

Thank God, for “storms” that only happen occasionally, not every day; and they don’t come to stay!
