Scripture therapy!

Welcome!

Passage:  Psalm 121 (The message)

Today: Scripture therapy!

8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1, NIV 84)

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6, NIV 84)-emphasis added

When the word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit leave our hearts, homes and houses of worship, they will be replaced by undesirable, dangerous things!

Unfortunately, that is the situation today; TV, Internet and busy-ness of life have put God out of our hearts and homes!

And we lost our sensitivity to God, people and sin; sometimes, “children of God” become hard-hearted than others, with no grace and truth!

God has told us how important it is, to have the word of God in us; the word of God brings lot of blessings in the present, together with future blessings!

As we claim the scripture and pray, devil shakes! It is our heritage as children of God. When we speak the word appropriate for that situation, it works!

When we speak the words of our daddy, on behalf of Him, who can question that?

Children sometimes tell their friends, “my dad said so” and that quietens others!

Teachers sometimes send letters home, asking permission for taking children to a museum or so; without the parent’s permission, they won’t take them out!

Did you know how important we are, to God? Do you ask His permission?

In Deuteronomy, we read that God likes us to write the scripture and display it so that it will remind us the words/promises of God

If somebody is sick, give them some “healing scriptures”; there are plenty!

We will see that there is such power in scripture, as we believe and speak them to our own lives; we are speaking legal, binding stuff upon the devil and his works!

When we start doing that, our words will become powerful; what we speak in the name of Jesus will happen!

In the new year, we need to do things we didn’t do last year; we also need to stop some of the things we were doing so far!

We can dedicate ourselves to be rich in His word and the Spirit, while stopping all unnecessary, unprofitable words and actions; let our words build others up!

The coming of the Lord is near by another year, and we don’t want to miss it!

Our busy-ness in our job/business/family will not be acceptable excuses for God!

I remember reading the following prayer by house chaplain, in the US senate! Such things are very rare in the world today; thank God!

“Let us pray. Eternal God, we give you thanks for giving us another day, a new year. The political struggles of the past year have revealed the divisions that exist in our nation. There are many American citizens who are angry, frustrated, and anxious for the future. This day is a day of history. Send your spirit upon the members of the people’s house. May an imperfect compromise when viewed from the perspective of our differences not be undermined by a desire for political victory. This is difficult for all. Give each member the grace and courage to forge a constructive solution for the greater good of the nation and all Americans. Help us to trust that no matter what, you will not abandon us. May all that is done this day be for your greater honor and glory. Amen.”

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for giving me another year; help me to make this year different, by being more serious about you, Lord. I apologize for taking your things light, and for granted. May my life bring Glory to your name; Amen

When we put God’s word ahead of us, God puts us ahead of the world!
