Life after our retirement from here!

Welcome!

Passage:  1 Cor 15:20-58

Today: Life after our retirement from here!

15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. 16 O Lord, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant[c]; you have freed me from my chains. (Ps 116, NIV 84)

3 You turn men back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, O sons of men.” (Ps 90, NIV 84)

When people retire, especially with a good pension, I see them having a sigh of relief; they don’t have to get up early in the morning or drive to work on a cold, snowy day anymore; the rest of the life is theirs to enjoy!

But then, there is this retirement from our life on earth; it should be a time  when everyone can relax and enjoy;  Life on earth has its pains and sorrows!

Life after retirement depends on the life before; for those who worked hard and did things right, retirement will be the best time of their life!

If you look at the news, hundreds of people are  through various incidents of deaths, terrorism, and accidents; it has been so much “bad news”!

And there was always this question: “why God allows bad incidents like this?”

Such questions are not bad in themselves. Jesus himself asked a question on the cross; “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

What was the answer to that question, from heaven?

Nothing!

But then, Christ made another statement on the cross; “it is finished”

Even when He had a question, He had an answer; He did what He was supposed to do, with His life. He did not live a full course of earthly life, up to 70 or 80, but within the short time He had, He finished His task.

Now, as He got up there, His reward and a great “welcome” was waiting!

We all have a lot of questions; but if we can say that “we did our job regardless”, that will be great! In the book of Nehemiah, we see that they finished their task, even in the midst of great challenges and opposition!

The whole world lies under the dominion of darkness; darkness seeks to steal, kill and destroy. “Darkness” enjoys death, while “Light” enjoys life. Jesus came to give life, abundant (John 10:10). Jesus wept at the death of Lazarus

When a man/woman of God is called back after their service to God in this darkness-ruled earth, there will be a great welcome in heaven!

Their “retirement” will be glorious!

May God heal the hearts of the wounded and the broken-hearted, and fill their hearts with God’s peace
