Bless the Lord, O my soul

Welcome!

Passage:  Psalm 103 (NIV 84)

Today: Bless the Lord, O my soul

1 Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits— 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Psalm 103, NIV 84)  emphasis added

Praise be to God! The more we thank and praise God, the more we will be blessed!

Much of our prayers are filled with asking; may be it is time to change the way we pray; there has to be much more thanking and praising in our life!

God is good; He wants to give good things to His children

He forgives our sins and heals us. We may ask for forgiveness before we ask for healing. Forgiveness and healing are connected. Even if we don’t remember anything specifically, there will be something we all need forgiveness from

For some reason, when it comes to healing, we rarely see praying for forgiveness

God is the one who redeems us from the pit. He can redeem us from any kind of pit, any area where we are kind of “trapped” for a long time. We may think and plan different ways to get out of that place, but God always has a better way!

Pray to God and wait until it is His time. He will lift you up (from the pit)

He crowns us with love and compassion; God showers love and compassion on us

When God gives something, He gives without limit, no measure (Jn 3:34)

We keep strict accounting when giving to God, not much for anything else (!)

Again, God satisfies our desires with good things. These days, there are many cheap and imitation things available, things that “look good”. But when God gives, He gives real good stuff, because we are His children. He gives the best!

If we feel that any of these are not true for us, it is time to change the way we pray. Martha was complaining to Jesus about Mary. Such people will always be found complaining. I don’t know if Martha found time to say “Thank you Jesus, for visiting us one more time and ministering to us”; may be she didn’t! (Luke 10)

Have we ever really thanked Jesus from the depth of our heart, like thanking a person? If not, it may not be too late to do so

We live in a world where people are worried and upset about so many things. If we also join the “worried and upset” party, like the “pity party”, there is nothing much God can do for us. That is why God wants us to be thankful and cheerful in the midst of all the issues we have. He has the answer, whatever it is!

Have a blessed day. Bless the Lord O my soul!

Prayer: Father God, thank you for all that you have done for me and for those you will do for me. I know that only good and perfect things come from you. Help me spent more time thanking and praising you these days. In Jesus’ name, Amen

When praises go up, blessings come down!
