Compliment, not complain!

Welcome!

Passage:  Luke 10 (NIV 84)

Today: Compliment, not complain!

40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!” 41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed.[f] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”  (Luke 10, NIV 84)  emphasis added

The house of Mary and Martha was one where Jesus used to stop-by

Martha was good with all cooking and preparations, but Mary would “forget” everything else when it comes to the things of God. She would just like to sit at the Lord’s feet and listen!

Martha wanted to bring this “important” problem to Jesus’ attention. She was worried that one person was getting all the benefit and the other (herself) was getting all the burden!

As opposed to what she expected, Jesus commented Mary!

Martha was distracted! She was always like that. She could never focus one thing, and she never had time for anything, especially for the things of God.

Mary had chosen to focus on one thing at a time. It is a matter of choice

Most of us think that if we separate 5 minutes for God, the sky will “fall down” because of the lot of things we have to do. The opposite is true!

Spent that time with God first; you will save “a ton” of time on other things!

If we don’t give the first few moments of the day to God religiously (strictly), we may not be able to do it effectively as the day goes by.

7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. (James 1. NIV 84)

A double-minded man, one who can’t focus on anything, cannot receive things from God. Distracted people will also be disturbing people.

Martha was complaining about Mary, but the problem was actually with Martha herself. Do you see someone always complaining about someone else?

In homes (siblings/spouse), offices, church you see this kind of people who try to bring “news” to the parent/boss/ about the other person(s)

Such people as well as people who enjoy listening to them make their lives miserable. Jesus did not encourage Martha’s role as a messenger about Mary

That was the last time Martha made any “news” about anybody, to Jesus!

If you are a leader of some kind, be careful about encouraging “Marthas”

God is happy about those who find time to be with God every day

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Help me to stay focused and not to steal time or anything  that is meant for you. I know that you have things to speak to me just as I have, for you. I decide to change my routine, and put you first. So help me God, Amen

When God is first, you don’t have much to complain; you will only compliment!
