Relax! God is in charge!

Welcome!

Passage:   Psalm 46, (NIV 84)

Today: God is in charge!

1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. (Psalm 46, NIV 84) emphasis added

Penned by the sons of Korah, Psalm 46  is a great psalm, a psalm of encouragement and hope in the midst of hopelessness

It is said that that the context of this paslm is 2 Kings 13: 13-19/2 Chronicles 32, when Jerusalem was invaded by the Assyrians

When something “scary” like a natural calamity or war or something is about to happen, we can  see three types of people/response:

  1. People who say, “nothing will happen; be cool”
  2. People who get all scared, and try all methods to escape it
  3. People who accept the possibility of something happening, prepare to deal with it, while praying and hoping that God will make a way in/out of it

I would rather stand with the third group. The other day, a small plane crashed into a home in Florida. A friend of the pilot said, he was one of the best Christians he ever knew. That may create some doubt in some,  “why?”

Many are afraid about the future of the nation. But the question is: “who do you put your trust in?”. “Is it in a man or in God?”

Whether it be a storm or a “cliff” or a war, God is in control. It is better to put our trust in God and go ahead. Even if a war happens and bombs fall all around us, we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do. What will we do if an earthquake happens without any warning? No govt. can help; only God can!

It is better to trust in God than in any leader.  God will not change His words. God is ready, willing and able to keep His promise

Instead of putting all our focus on wall street, look up. Wall street, including those “bulls” made of metal, was under water recently. Unless the Lord had put a limit to those waters, things would have been far worse!

So, regardless of what happens in the economic/political/natural/religious sphere, God is unchanging and is active, watching over every thing.

Cheer up. We’ve got work to do. Help/encourage someone

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you because you are the one really in control/in charge of everything, even as the world ignores that fact. Thank you for loving me and the world. Help me to be a channel of love, faith and hope to others. Amen

We are concerned that others don’t get God right; God is concerned that many of us didn’t get it right!
