“Paying for not praying”?

Welcome!

Passage:  Exodus 33 (NIV 84)

Today: “Paying for not praying”?

10 Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to his tent. 11 The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.. (Ex 33, NIV 84)-emphasis added

The greatest experience one can have in life is to be able to speak with God, like a friend;  Moses had a personal touch with God!

If we don’t pray, we will end up paying for it!

When Moses came out of God’s presence, his face was radiating with the glory of God, that people were unable to look on to his face!

  1. Moses had a special tent, exclusively for prayer-a place to meet with God

What “tools” we have in place, for God?

A Bible in the bag? A journal to write things as God reminds them?

A room  seperated for prayer?

What do you do during lunch break? What do you do when you drive to work?

If you spent a good time travelling, you can listen to audio scripture;  if you take public transportation like a train, you can read something

We all need our own “tents of meeting (with God)”

2  Moses lead by example. When he chose to go to the tent of meeting, people automatically chose to worship God, at the tents where they were living

When leaders do the right thing, people will follow it; like “a picture speaks a thousand words”, “living right, speaks a thousand sermons”!

3. Moses asked the Lord for His presence, to send “somebody” with him

12 Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

14 The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Ex 33, NIV 84)-emphasis added

God said, that God  himself will go with Moses and the people!

Even while being the leader of millions of people, Moses felt “lonely” without God (unlike many of the leaders today, who would rather feel “safe” without God!)

Do you really need God’s presence with you or not?

Do you need Him with you at work, when you are “online”, and when you are alone?

It all depends on where you and I are going!

Have a wonderful day!

Peace!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for speaking to me. I admit that I don’t really spend time with you, as needed, and I am “paying” for it. Help me spend enough time with you in prayer and in the word. Thank you for your help. Amen

If you don’t “miss God”, even while not spending time with Him,  you are missing everything, which you will know later!
