Have a “tent of prayer”?

Welcome!

Passage:  Exodus 33 (NIV 84)

Today: Have a “tent of prayer”?

7 Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the “tent of meeting.” Anyone inquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp. 8 And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. (Ex 33, NIV 84)-emphasis added

After the incident with the golden calf and the punishment from God, Moses had his own “clean-up”;the people also re-committed themselves

Such a “clean-up” rarely happens among us; instead, many would consult a “prophet” or somebody; change rarely happens

I was listening to a man of God the other day, who said: “Israelites were going around and around the mountain and it took 40 years for what should actually have taken just three days!”

Many a time, what we do is also the same: going around the same mountains(s) and routines day after day, for 10, 20, 30 ,….years

And we expect that these “mountains” will move some day

But these mountains rather change us; thank God for some of those mountains in our life. For a student, that may be his/her study; for an employee, it may be the job or job-related issues. For a minister of God, it may be the church, and so on…

See what Moses did; away from the camp, he made a special tent, just to pray!

I remember  listening to a sermon on the radio about a man who decided to do something, at a time of a great recession in America, few decades back

When everyone was looking towards Washington and when people in Washington were looking at each other, this man decided to start a prayer

First, only a handful of people came; but later, it grew to become a prayer movement, that changed the course of the land

It is not by might nor power, but by God’s spirit, that something good will happen

None of the Presidents can do what God alone can do!

Get the tent of prayer ready; get ready to seek the face of the Lord!

We may have many rooms in our home; but we need some room to pray!

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.(Ps 121, NIV 84)

May we not look anywhere else for real help, but only at God

Moses took the right step; set up your own “tent/time/place of prayer”-the one place where all problems get resolved

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Father God, I thank and praise you for who you are and for what you have done for us. I tried many other ways except seeking your face, and my “mountains” got bigger. Help me set up my tent of prayer. In Jesus’ name, Amen

When you get into the “tent of prayer”, the “mountain” will no longer bother you!
