Such a father in God!

Welcome!

Today: Such a father in God!

Passage: Psalm 78 (NIV)

5 He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, 6 so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. 7 Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. (Psalm 78, NIV)

In God, we see the qualities of a perfect father.

1. God is the source and sustainer of Life:

Life comes from the father. The child is the seed of the father, and so are we, from God. When God created man, He blew His life into the nostrills of man. In re-birth, we are His children, through the seed of the word. God also sustains our life, like how a father protects his children. God delivers us from death

20 Our God is a God who saves! The Sovereign Lord rescues us from death. (Ps 68, NLT)

2. God is the source and sustainer of Love:

God is Love. A father is also the source of Love in the home. Children see the emotional and physical aspect of that love expressed in various ways; actions and words. It is the love of the father that makes him come home to his own and provide for them. The father stands with his own in times of trouble and in triumph. When children get awards and accomplishments, father is there to encourage; when they fail somewhere, father is there to direct them.

13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him (Ps 103, NIV)

3. God is the source and sustainer of Law and order in the house; he makes and maintains them.

A father is the law giver and law keeper of the house. When children tend to go their own way, the father intervenes and tells them to go right. He advises and corrects.  If we look at the statistics, we can see that crimes are more from children growing without the father in the home

5 For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors
to teach them to their children (Psalm 78, NLT)

21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” (Isaiah 30:21, NIV)

Thank God for all that He is. In God, we see the perfect father. Our earthly fathers were not perfect, just like us; they were human

It is the greatest privilege in life to have the almighty God as our father!

He is our provider, protector and the one who promotes us

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Father God, thank you for all your provisions in life. You are my God, my father, and my best friend. There is nothing I can’t share with you and there is nothing you will not help me with. Thank you dad! In Jesus’ name; Amen

We  find the perfect father in no one else but God!
