Today: Excellent & profitable vs. useless & unprofitable!
Passage: Titus 3
8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. 9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. (Titus 3, NIV 84) -emphasis added
15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. (Eph 5, NKJV) – emphasis added
Everyday, most of us waste so much of time, even while saying, “time is so tight”
At the end of the day, what we achieve is the same routine things we do every day. It has been many years we ever shared the gospel with somebody…..?
Another area many Christians struggle is with “worship”. The struggle started right from the beginning, during the days of Cain. It continues till this day
Throughout the Bible, we see this “struggle” in one way or other. In Egypt, Israel could not worship freely. God wanted them to get out of Egypt so that they could worship God freely, in the wilderness. Even though they cried to God because of slavery, God told Moses to set them free for worship. When we worship God as we should, many yokes on us will be broken!
During the days of Elijah, he challenged the people to worship only one God. Elijah wanted a clear distinction between those worshiping Baal and Jehovah. Satan’s attempt is to keep both together, mixed; but God wants the distinction to be clear. Then only will the fire of God come down and God’s power be proved
The reason why we don’t see the power of God in action is because of this mix-up
On the day of Pentecost, the 120 were in one accord, had one agenda and only one aspiration. God really honored their oneness and blessed them
In our own personal life, if things are not happening as they should, it is possible that we keep one foot in one boat and the other in another…! We are not totally committed/focused on the one God/goal
Jesus sometimes asked certain people to stay out, when He was about to bring a dead person to life. That was not for nothing…!
When people who can agree together pray together, things do happen!
There are conflicts in worship, in many places. There has to be a real homework done, to distinguish between that which is excellent and profitable, vs. that which is useless and unprofitable. If we engage in arguments and disagreements more often, we are putting an axe on our own blessings!
It is time to move forward, choosing and doing that which is excellent and profitable. Identify those times/areas which are useless and unprofitable; STOP wasting a second on such things…whether it be hours on the inter-net/web or on TV! Start making use of every moment for good, or we will pay BIG later!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for choosing me to be yours; it was absolutely your work, not mine! Help me identify and get rid of the useless and unprofitable things in my life and to focus on that which is excellent and profitable; Amen
