Welcome!
Today: “Me praying for you and you praying for me”
Passage: Eph 6
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (Eph 6, NIV)
For those of us who hardly pray, all kinds of prayers is really too much!
But we all need to pray, even if we don’t learn theology
After walking with the Master of Prayer for quite sometime, the disciples understood their ignorance on prayer and asked Jesus to teach them to pray
Jesus taught them a model prayer, which involved the greatest aspects/contents of prayer. However, prayer makes sense to God when it comes from our heart, not from our lips. God is not pleased with our repetitions
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Mat 7:21, NIV)
“These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” (Mat 15:8, NIV)
God likes our prayers. We want our children to be real and transparent when they talk to us; God wants it the same way. God is tired of masks and make-ups
What are some of the kinds of prayer?
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men. 1 Timothy 2:1 (KJV)
Other than those mentioned above, we also see prayer of faith, prayer of agreement and prayer of dedication or consecration
There could be much more types of prayer. Once we graduate/learn to pray those mentioned above, we can go into more kinds of prayers
Paul is pleading for prayers from others, while he himself promises them his prayers. Instead of “me praying for me and you praying for you”, it is me praying for you and you praying for me!
Start praying for others, especially those who are in ministry, those who minister to you and those who are in critical/dangerous positions. Pray for your city, work place and so on
God bless your endeavor to come up in prayer
BG
Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach and help me to pray the way you like it. Amen
“God likes our petitions, not repetitions”
