Do we feel what God feels about our City?

Welcome!

Today: Do we feel what God feels about our City?

Passage: Rev 1

17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. (Rev 1, NIV)

While in the Island of Patmos, John saw Jesus and he fell at the feet of Jesus and worshipped Him. What would we do if we happen to see Jesus?

When some people see their religious place of worship, they immediately worship!

When we are tired and we see the bed and the blanket, especially on a “cold” morning, we feel like going to sleeep!

When we see good, tasty food, we may feel like having some of it

But then, if we have things to do, we will have to fight our desire to sleep.

In the same way, we will have to say “No” to certain kinds of food sometimes, because we have to take care of our body

When we see our laptop, we feel like getting on it immediately!

But when it is time to pray, we have a hundred other things to do!

We lost our appetite for God somewhere, and is dangerous!

When Jesus was still in heaven, He looked down and saw millions on their way to hell. He couldn’t just sit there anymore like that. He came down, knowing it was going to cost Him much. He knew He was going to see the Church coming up and becoming a challenge for the enemy who “destroyed” Adam and Eve in the garden!

In the garden of Gethsemane, it was “payback” time for satan

And then, He went up and sent the Holy Spirit down, for us

While the Holy Spirit is preparing the “bride of Christ” for that day, Jesus is busy giving the last-minute touch-ups for that “City beautiful”

God loves the City. He loves your city and mine. He is the God of the City

While satan tries to claim many cities like he did to that garden, you and I have to step up and tell satan: “you are not getting my City. It is God’s. This is “pay back time” for you!”

Stay blessed, in your City!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for coming down and living among us, walking and talking, and dying for us. You resurrected, went up and sent the Holy Spirit and filled us with your love, your Spirit. Help us to spread that love. Amen

“When you are right with God, you treat God and others right!”
