Our God is personal!

Welcome!

Today: Our God is personal!

Passage: 2 Peter 1

3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and  goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (2 Peter 1, NIV)- emphasis added

When God has given us everything we need for life and Godliness, we need not go after evil desires. But then, we still have many needs!

That is correct. But in Christ, we have all our needs met. He is our sufficiency

If we are going somewhere with a rich person who has agreed to take care of all our expenses, should we worry about anything?

The truth is, “No”. But the fact is, we will still worry. We don’t feel “comfortable”, without something in our pocket

God is no stranger to us; but even as He provides us the best, we still choose to live in doubt and fear!

We live in a world where justice is scarce. People kill others and get away because they have money to spend, and have  good attorneys. On the other hand, innocent people get “crucified”!

God wants us to be part-takers of His (divine) nature. He wants to get intimate with us, not just to get some worship and praise from us.
That is one thing that makes the way of Christ different from others. Jesus is personal!

But we don’t want to get that closer with God! We are better (!) if we can keep a “safe distance” from God.

Zacheus is our friend and brother. We want to see Jesus and hear Him, but we don’t want Him to see us or get too closer with us

We like to be part-takers of His blessings; why not His character/nature?

When we say God is our father and we behave like the devil, something is wrong!

Have a blessed day. Think about what we just read.

Amen!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for being so personal. I have a friend, a father, a brother in you. There is no time you keep a “safe distance”  from me. You are with me 24/7. Help me to behave like you. Amen
