Welcome!
Today: “Lord, don’t disturb me please”
Passage: Ephesians 5
13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” (Ephesians 5, NIV)
When light comes, we (should) stop sleeping
But if we choose to sleep even after light comes, something is wrong
Satan like darkness, which makes people “sleep” spiritually
Take the average believer today. A good number of them are “sleeping”, with an (invisible) sign posted for God, “don’t disturb please”
They will come for Sunday service and may be Saturday night and that is it
That is all the spiritual activity. No prayer, no Bible reading, no sharing of God’s word, no praying for others….that’s the story of 90% or more of church folks!
If we don’t wake up with all these things going around us, what else do we want God to do? God is already calling like a Mom/dad calling children: “wake up!”
Jonah was deep asleep. (He probably forgot to put the “don’t disturb” sign.)
He got the water-treatment. Instead of sprinkling some water on him, he got the “immersion” one. In three days, God made sure that Jonah woke up completely, and was not going to sleep again soon. God saved Jonah, even though through some sufferings
During the time of Noah, a similar thing happened. People went away from God. That time, it was not just a judgment, but a condemnation. God saved Noah
God calls the spiritual sleeper as a “dead” person.
God calls the physically dead “sleeping”!
Our priorities must reverse. We must start seeing things somewhat like God sees them. When we see the spiritually dead, we should feel like how God feels!
Try if you can wake up at least one!
Once we wake up from our spiritual sleep, God will shine upon us
Many people looking at us will see Jesus
If nobody is seeing Jesus through us, then we are sleeping; guaranteed!
Have a nice day!
