Heaven’s spokesperson

Welcome!

Today: Heaven’s spokesperson

Passage: Heb 1, Prov 19

1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word (Heb 1, NIV 84)

Jesus is more than our only mediator with the father; He is the voice-the word of God

God has revealed himself to us through Jesus; it was God’s pleasure to do so

God knew that many will not accept that; God knew many will say there is no God

Many people get fooled by investment companies they trusted; many get cheated by other people; yet they are not willing to accept what God says, when God will not deceive anybody

Instead, people come up with their own theories about God

God’s word is God; we cannot separate them (John 1:1)

God is what He says; He does not say one thing and do another

When this word is in us, we have God in us

Packing our phones and computers with God’s word or having study Bibles and books in the home will only be a decoration; we need to get them in-to our heart

God is careful as to whom He selects, to bring His word to the people

He selected Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah, Peter, Paul…….

But most of all, Jesus Himself is heaven’s designated spokesperson

Those who preach/share the word has a responsibility about themselves

It is a privilege-a blessed experience to proclaim God’s precious word to others. It is a sacred act. But we must also make sure that our words match our lives

In many churches today, there are conflicts between the traditional and the modern. Older people want it one way, younger ones want it another way

Both could be wrong. The best thing is to ask God to help and guide in the right direction. Let God decide the end, not us

Many issues are unresolved, because we decide the final outcome

We say, “This is how it should be, in the end”

Jesus is the Alpha and Omega; we start in Christ, leave the end result to Him

3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word (Heb 1:3a, NIV 84)

Jesus not only created, but also sustains everything He created, by His word-All planets and stars and everything is kept in place by His word

Why can’t we take advice from Him? Can we find a better Advocate/counsellor?

May God bless you

Prayer: That the Lord will speak/minister to you through His word

Proverbs for today: Prov 19 (verses below, from NIV 84)

2 It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.

11 A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

16 He who obeys instructions guards his life, but he who is contemptuous of his ways will die.

17 He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.

21 Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.
