The God-Man!

Welcome!

Today: The God-Man!

Passage: 1 Tim 2, Prov 18

5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all men—the testimony given in its proper time. (1 Tim 2:5-6, NIV 84)

God, who is holy, hates sin but loves the sinner

After Adam sinned, God’s fellowship with man was interrupted

God selected men like Abraham and Moses to communicate with, who in turn would bring God’s message to the people

But God found none of them qualified to be a mediator between God and the people. Jesus, who is part of the God head, was the only one qualified

Jesus willingly accepted that call/challenge and became that God-man!

Two extremes-divine God and earthly man in one; sinless heaven and sinful world!

How can one person hold both the divine and the human nature together?

That was the mystery in Jesus Christ. No one else could do that

This God-man, JESUS emptied himself of all heavenly glory and became like a servant, humbling himself to serve you and me

He is our advocate before the heavenly judge, God. We cannot go to that judge without this advocate/attorney. He is the only one licensed to appear before the heavenly court

When God sees us outside of Jesus, we are the enemies of God

But as we get into Christ, we are out of God’s danger zone. As long as we remain in Christ, we are safe (John 1:12, Romans 10:9, 10)

The word became flesh. It is a mystery! Word is divine and flesh is earthly

We can run to Jesus anytime, with all our issues. He can understand us. He is also our high priest who intercedes for us. He himself is our atonement

Jesus put an end to all animal sacrifices; hundreds of thousands of animals were spared. He became our mediator, our sacrifice and our high priest

He took care of business; we are the free recipients of His grace

Now, He is not only living with us or among us, but He lives within us!

We- our body is the temple where God dwells (Col 1:26-27, 1 Cor 6:19, 20)

We don’t belong to ourselves, but God. The best thing ever to happen in a person’s life:  belong to God. It is not slavery, but son-ship!

We go to Him with any and every kind of situation-physical, spiritual, material, family, work,…..it doesn’t matter. He will guide us

Consult Jesus  before consulting anybody else, no matter what. We cannot go wrong

The book of Hebrews is good for study about Jesus- our sacrificial lamb and our High Priest-at the same time!

God bless you

Prayer: That God will give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation about Himself

(Ephesians 1)

Proverbs for today: Proverbs 18 (verses below from NIV 84)

9 One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.

10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

12 Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.

21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

24 A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
