Welcome!
Today: Zeal without knowledge; plane without roof
Passage: Rom 10, Prov 4
1 Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. (Rom 10:1, NIV 84)-emphasis added
2 It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way. 3 A man’s own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD. (Prov 19:2, NIV 84)-emphasis added
God is a zealous God; God likes people who are zealous for God
But then, there are many who are “dangerously” zealous for God
Zeal that does not come from/attached with divine wisdom/knowledge can be the worst thing you ever can have!
Those are the types of people who focus on others, other religions and faiths, instead of focusing on Jesus and doing what Jesus called us to do
Jesus was against the religious hypocrites but was very compassionate to people outside of the “temple”. He treated the Samaritans and gentiles with proper understanding and wisdom
The spirit of God is a spirit of love, power and sound mind
I just mentioned about “sound mind” few days back; it is one of the most important qualities of the Holy Spirit every believer in Christ should have.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Tim 1, NKJV)
The Spirit that God gives, is a spirit of love, power and sound mind
So, from where did some people get a Spirit without the sound mind?
Definitely, that is not from the God of the Bible
Zeal without knowledge is like a plane without a portion of its roof on it;
It is that dangerous!
Back in India, I have seen few instances when preachers come and then they preach “whatever” they want, in some Evangelistic conventions
Instead of preaching Christ, they preach all nonsense against the beliefs and faiths/practices of other people
These preachers get their “reward” and leave; the poor believers suffer later
Such preachers should be “talked to” and disciplined
We live at a time when the devil is looking for a reason to put the children of God in trouble; this is the time to be wise and praying, that every word and action of ours will reflect Jesus to others (Ephesians 5:15-17)
God bless your week

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you for your love and compassion. Even as many are getting persecuted and killed all over the world for your sake, we pray for such.
Let every word and action of mine be pleasing to you. Amen
6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.
7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have,[a] get understanding. (Prov 4:6, 7 NIV 84)
