Welcome!
Today: The power of focusing on God!
Passage: Psalm 18
3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me.
5 The cords of the grave[b] coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. (Psalm 18, NIV 84)
David wrote this psalm after he gained victory over those who were after him
David never took any fight personal; instead, he turned them over to God
He never attacked Saul in word or deed even as Saul was looking to kill him
David focused on the tasks he had to do, instead of focusing on people and wasting his time; King Saul wasted most of his time “meditating” on David
Is some person or situation taking most of your time?
Then you are being a fool, fighting yourself; start meditating on God instead
David’s only source for all his provision and protection was God; he focused on God, not on his problems. It is difficult sometimes, but is possible!
When he had a problem, he never ran to anybody else but God
He did not run after a prophet or a priest, even though he respected them
Today, there are many who won’t take time to pray or praise God; instead they run after prophets and priests when they have a problem!
God feels sorry for such because they remain childish, never maturing
David called to the Lord; he prayed to God and praised God
Prayer and praise are two powerful things, but many believers ignore it
If you will take just ten minutes to pray and praise, you will see the difference!
You can overcome a bunch of problems through that
Jonah called out to God from the belly of the fish
It doesn’t matter how bad/worse your situation is
Sincere prayer from a repented and broken heart will bring miracles down
Paul and Silas were once locked up in prison; they were praying and praising God,
Instead of fearing and complaining
25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose.(Acts16,NIV84)
God is not a respecter of persons; He will do for you and me, what He did for Paul and Silas
Another time, when Peter was in prison, the Church prayed earnestly for him; a similar thing happened (Acts 12)
Start praying and praising; you will see problems moving away and “mountains” melting down!
Have a blessed day

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you for your presence and promise even as I go through the strangest valleys in life. I thank you for keeping me and my family safe from natural and other calamities, as I pray for those affected by such, as well as those being persecuted for various reasons. Amen
