Unless the Lord promotes!

Welcome!

Today: Unless the Lord promotes!

Passage: Luke 14, Psalm 127

7 When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable: 8 “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. 9 If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. (Luke 14, NIV 84)

Jesus not only talked about salvation; He also talked about how you may pick a seat when you are invited somewhere

Ethics is really important but etiquette (manners) has its own place

There are many books out there in the market, like “your Bible for computer” or something like that. First I thought, they are the real Bibles, but later only I came to know that “Bible” is the name they use for a book that talks everything about something! Many of us didn’t know the name “Bible” was that much valued!

In the verse above, Jesus talks about some people who have given a promotion to themselves; on the other hand, there are people whom God has promoted

When we put ourselves in the wrong places that is how it may look, for God!

Jesus strongly criticized those people who were only after name and fame; Jesus emphasized on the importance of keeping a low profile and doing things for God, for which God will reward at the right time

But Jesus also said that the lamp that is lit may not be kept hidden

Jesus wants us to make Him known to others so that they can be saved; the reason why God wants us to worship Him is that we will be worshipping someone else otherwise, which could be dangerous!

It is not because God is crazy for a name or fame that He wants us to speak about Him or to praise and worship Him; it is for our benefit, not His!

God put Joseph, Moses, Joshua, David,….in certain positions

David committed a big sin; Peter denied Jesus

But God still promoted them; you know why?

They repented thoroughly; God loves a repenting person than those who live like “I have never sinned”!

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives (1 John 1, NIV 84)

10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15, NIV 84 )

One of the things that blocks God’s blessings in our life is the many sins we haven’t yet repented about

Have a blessed weekend!

Prayer: Lord God, thank you for the word and for coming down for me. Help me to give you the honor and glory you deserve and to not take that glory for myself. In Jesus’ name. Amen
