Walk fast or far?

Welcome!

Passage:  Deuteronomy 3 (NIV 84)

Today: Walk fast or far?

13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” 15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.  (Ephesians 5, NIV 84) emphasis added

The Bible warns us clearly about the dangers of the time we are living in; we read that the days are evil and that we better be very careful and prayerful

Ignoring the word of God is ignoring God; it is ignoring the fact, the truth!

In the scripture above, we see the contrast between light and night, between those who are awake and those who are sleeping, between those who are careful and those who are careless, between the wise and the foolish, between those who understand God’s will and those who don’t, and between those who get filled with the Holy Spirit of God and those who get filled by the wine/the “spirit” from the shop!

We can’t live a double life and please God; may be we can please ourself and give a “good impression” to others, for a limited time!

Here are few quotes I heard in church yesterday

“Alone, you may go fast; but together, you can go far”

“As Christians, we don’t live like everybody else”

Is it better to walk fast and come to a sudden end, or to walk far and end in God?

When you see people “sold out” to God, it is something different

When God touches someone deep, they can never be the same again- you will see the difference; the touch(es) of the world can’t influence them much

I remember listening to the story of this retired football player Ray Lewis who testifies about God and gives all glory to God, regardless of the good and the bad that happened in his life; he believes that God does not make mistakes

Imagine you are going an evening walk with Jesus; you can’t say “Hi” to everybody; you will be walking like a “saint”; you will not look at the bad pictures on the side

With Jesus, we can go far, but may be not that fast; it is better to go far, than going a short distance fast and then collapsing; many who call themselves “Christians” want to look and live like everybody else, not like a friend of Jesus (!?)

But if we want to really know what is going on and what is ahead, it is important to be a friend of Jesus and walk with Him

It is time to walk in the true light; time to be careful and prayerful; time to come back (its not too late!); time to be “wise” and time to seek God’s will in everything

In the past, we did not seek God’s will in many things and we “paid” for it

But we can still make a difference by seeking His will and directions, starting today!

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for being God; I see that the world does not care much for you, but what you said and lived is the truth; everything you said is being proved true every day, as your coming to this earth is approaching. Thank you! Amen!

In the end, it is all about how and where you finish up your race!
