When God blesses!

Welcome!

Passage:  Psalm 32 (NIV 84)

Today: When God blesses!

1 Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 2 Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. (Psalm 32, NIV 84)-emphasis added

We like the words “blessing”, “blessed” etc, very much; they are definitely blessed words!

But “blessing” has a “different” meaning in the eyes of man and God

Man talks mostly about earthly/material blessings; God is about spiritual blessings

It is more blessed to have peace than to have too much money and no peace!

And that is true for most people with too much material blessings; no peace!

Greed for money is a sin that can “qualify” someone for hell!

3 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. 4 Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. 5 For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. (Eph 5,. NIV 84-emphasis added)

Greed for money can be in two ways: greed in making & greed in spending

Greed in making money includes sacrificing important principles and values for just making money, cheating on taxes etc; greed in spending includes  spending only for ourselves, disregarding the needs of others

In pslam 32, we see that it is a blessing to have one’s sins forgiven by God

Sin is the biggest & worst debt, a person can ever have; debt of money may eventually take someone to jail in certain cases,  but debt of sin will take people to hell; it is important to “clear” the debt of sin before we leave the earth, in order to escape hell!

During the time of Paul writing the epistles, Gnosticism was active; they  believed that sins done in the body had no effect on one’s spirit. However, Jesus as well as the apostles corrected this wrong teaching; the body of a person committed to Christ is the temple and the property of God

Today, many in church practice gnosticism, even though they may preach against it; sin is taken so light and preaching is done powerfully! That is nothing but the influence of the “gnostic” spirit instead of the Holy Spirit

In psalm 32, the psalmist goes on to the point where he tried to conceal his sin inside, but was about to burst out!  he then ran to God and confessed them!

4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Selah
5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”— and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah (Ps 32, NIV 84)-emphasis added

When we are willing to uncover our sins to God, He will forgive and open ways and doors for us, which were closed; some of the sins that God takes seriously and we take light include lying and greed for money and other stuff that others use, even when we can’t afford them

God will forgive sins, but we always pay a price for sin; lying is very common but we see that people pay a big price for every little lie; avoid it and get blessed!

Stay blessed!

Prayer: Almighty God, thank you for all your plans and provisions for us, because your plans for us are always the best; we have yielded ourselves to the wish and will of the enemy by our own choice, and we ask you pardon. In Jesus’ name; Amen

God forgets and forgives the sins we confess; but He never forgets any little good thing we do-even a glass of water we give to someone. Isn’t God good?
