God my shepherd!

Welcome!

Passage:  Jeremiah 17 (NIV 84)

Today: God my shepherd!

14 Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.
15 They keep saying to me, “Where is the word of the Lord? Let it now be fulfilled!”
16 I have not run away from being your shepherd; you know I have not desired the day of despair.
What passes my lips is open before you. (Jeremiah 17, NIV 84)-emphasis added

Jeremiah, also called “the weeping prophet”, had enough to weep

When Jeremiah brought the word of the Lord to the people, they just despised and rejected him, as well as the Lord and His word-just like they did to Moses!

The other day, I was reading an article about “the wrong reasons“ why people go to church; some go to church as an “obligation”; some go there to see and hear the “performances”- like songs, preaching etc. Some go there to “perform”- to show their dress, car etc., to others. See what the word has to say about church:

18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Eph 5, NIV 84)-emphasis added

Church is to be filled with people who are filled with the spirit of God!

They are to speak to each other and encourage (rarely happens!)

Jeremiah, called to be a shepeherd of the people, says: “I have not run away from being your shepherd”. Being a true shepherd of God, you are a true sheep unto the Lord!

Jeremiah would report to the Lord often; God was happy with Jeremiah

The so called “people of God” were annoyed at the anointed!

It hurts the anointed ones, when they are stopped by people/leaders

But there will come a time when the Lord will get up and act

When rejected by people, Jeremiah did not play politics, getting some people on his side; instead, he bent his knees and prayed, sincere and unbiased!

Jeremiah did not change the content of his preaching, just to please people

He brought it straight from God to the people, always a “servant” of God and His word, like apsotle Paul in the N.T. Jeremiah would not manipulate God’s word!

When we try to have one feet in the world and the other in the word, that’s like having our feet in two separate boats, not connected to each other!

Have a wonderful day! stand for God and His word, and you will be blessed!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I ask you pardon for leading a compromising life, not praying or listening to you, and for playing all the “games”. Even as many are playing games out there, I know I was not saved for that. Restore me O Lord; Amen

We cannot be a person of the world and expect the blessings of the word!
