Thank God for family!

Welcome!

Passage: Gen 7, NIV 84; 1 Sam 2: 12-36 (NIV 84)

Today: Thank God for family!

9 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. (Gen 9:1, NIV)-emphasis added

12 Eli’s sons were wicked men; they had no regard for the Lord. (1 Sam 2, NIV 84)

Yesterday, I was reading our daily bread; the topic  was Eli and his sons

I could not just read and forget it; all these are included in the Bible, for a reason-for us to learn. Eli’s children created “terror in the temple”, by demanding stuff from the people who came to worship. Eli, who was the chief priest, talked to his children briefly, but did not stop them from what they were doing.

Eli was kind of “happy” that some income was coming home!

There was meat in the home of Eli, 365 days! (Read 1 Samuel 2)

When the name of God/things of God are used for personal gains and glory, God will get up from His seat and get into action!

Parents sometimes ignore the spirituality of their children, if they do good in some areas like studies/job etc. But later on, their personal relationship with God will become the top concern at some point, may be after their marriage!

Just by seeing our children active in some area does not guarantee goodness

So, how do we deal with this issue of bringing up ourselves and our children right, in a wrong world?

Whether Christian or not, almost all parents want their children to grow up right!

Noah was able to get his family along, like Joshua and Caleb!

I remember  listening to a Christian radio message from Chuck Swindoll

He was mentioning about something that happened many years ago with his teen-age son. He was so unhappy about something in the son and  he wrote a letter to the son. But before mailing it,  he just showed it to his wife. She asked him to re-consider; he just tore it apart!

He would have probably created a “wall” between him and his son, had he sent it!

Praying for children is a very important aspect of our Christian life!

We need to pray with/for them; we need divine wisdom, to handle each situation!

Noah was able to get his family right; may God help us to handle ours right!

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus,  I need divine wisdom. I know that when I seek your face, you will guide me in each and every area of my life. Many times, I did things without seeking your face. Forgive me, Lord. Thank you for all your help and promise. Amen

We may be good in some areas, but we can do better with God!
