What happens when we speak?

Welcome!

Passage:  Gen 4, NIV 84

Today: What happens when we speak?

6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.” (Gen 4, NIV 84)-emphasis added

After the “fall”, ”Worship” was the reason for the first major clash in the first family

One of the major concerns for many church-going people is church itself; what happens in church affects families and individuals big time!

It affects young and the old. When there is a growing dis-connect between the young and the old, there is a growing problem in church as well as home!

When the power of the Holy Spirit takes over human elements, the “gap” problem will also be solved.

When Elizabeth, mother of John the baptist, and Mary met each other, it was not only them but also the baby in the womb of Elizabeth was also excited!

41 When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! 43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. (Luke 1, NIV 84)

Mary just greeted Elizabeth and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit!; the baby in her womb leaped with joy!

Pregnant woman can pass on the spirit to the baby while they are still in the womb!

It is important to start praying for them from that point onwards

If good things can have a positive impact on the baby, bad things can also have a (negative) impact. Mothers-to-be, beware!

God told Cain an important thing about sin: “master it

Sin should be our slave, and let God and His Spirit be our master!

When Mary spoke,Elizabeth was filled in the spirit; what kind of spirit do we pass on to others through our words and actions? What happens when we speak?

If we are full of the Spirit and the word of God, our normal speaking/behavior should show the difference; each and every action and attitude of a believer matters!

Watch what we say/speak! It affects us, our blessing, and our families blessing

Mary was so full of the spirit; she was spending all her time with God!

One of the biggest problem with the church today is that many ministers don’t spend enough time with God; the spirituality of the leader affects the church

The spirituality of the father affects the whole house! What was working in Adam and Eve, was working in Cain as well!

May God help us parents to get closer to God so that out children will do the same

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your love and care. I am sorry for not spending enough time with you, because of which my presence, words and actions don’t reflect you to others. Let my words and thoughts be pleasing to you; Amen

If we don’t master sin, sin will master us; there is no third option!
