Passage: Gen 41 (NIV)
”Rock of ages” in an age of rock!
46 Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from Pharaoh’s presence and traveled throughout Egypt. 47 During the seven years of abundance the land produced plentifully. 48 Joseph collected all the food produced in those seven years of abundance in Egypt and stored it in the cities. In each city he put the food grown in the fields surrounding it. 49 Joseph stored up huge quantities of grain, like the sand of the sea; it was so much that he stopped keeping records because it was beyond measure. (Gen 41, NIV) -emphasis added
When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, Jesus spoke the word and chased the enemy. It was the word with which He created everything
Jesus used the word to create, to bless, to bring things into being
Devil uses words to destroy and discourage people
When we use the word of God right, it produces and sustains life!
God likes to provide/feed His people with the best. He enjoys watching His children eat and get satisfied with heavenly manna, like how a mother would watch her son eat to his/her satisfaction. The word of God has all the essential “vitamins and minerals” for our spirit and soul, even body
For man shall not live by bread alone!
The word of God can put life back in to that which is dead!
Nothing else can do that, like God’s word. There are many incidents where people who were too sick and about to die, had been revived by hearing/reading the word. God Himself prescribes it like a medicine, like an antidote
In the book of Ezekiel, we see how the words of the prophet-the word that was from God revived the bones
When Jonah preached, people repented
When Noah preached, people rejected it. Both groups faced consequences according to their response/reaction to the word
There are many preachers out there, but preachers of the word are rare
Many preachers/pastors feed the church with “their” word instead of God’s word and the serious “vitamin deficiency” is very evident. Church has become sick and starving. People are longing for the real word and real power!
If you are a disciple of Jesus, re-commit yourself to read the word more; if you are a preacher, include more of the word in your preaching!
We can preach the word to the living and the dying; in wedding and in funeral services; in a “dead” church and in a “living/growing” church alike!
The word of God has the answer for the world’s top concerns and issues;
when a nation disregards the word of God, it disregards the God of the word
We need more “Michael Jackson”s or “Billy Graham”s?

Prayer: Rock of ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee; for you alone have the real life that the world needs. The water that gives life and heals the people, is in you, with you. Thank you for the great privilege to share that word. Amen!
The rock of ages can do what the age of rock cannot do; people are after “rock”, while the real rock is after the people!
