Passage: Gen 41 (NIV)
When you have the spirit of God….!
38 So Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God[a]?” 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. 40 You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you. ” (Gen 41, NIV) -emphasis added
Joseph was a man with the spirit of God, and Pharaoh knew it
It was not Joseph’s Pastor or others in church who testified about Joseph, but it was a man serving other gods and in a very powerful position in the world who testified that Joseph was a man with the spirit of God in him
Joseph’s God was no stranger to people who knew Joseph
As a man with the spirit of God in him, Joseph had wisdom and knowledge
Holy Spirit was at work on the creation from the beginning; the gifts of the Holy Spirit are the same all the time, whether before or after Pentecost, until today. In the Old Testament, the spirit of God came upon few people here and there, whereas in the New Testament, it came upon many, on “all flesh”!
When apostle Paul prays for the Ephesians, he prays that they may have the spirit of wisdom and revelation
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[f] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. (Eph 1, NIV)-emphasis added
One of the biggest drawbacks of the church today, is the shortage of people with the spirit of God, with wisdom, discernment, knowledge and revelation
We have many pastors and preachers, but most have no vision at all; those who have one, in most cases, have their own visions, which has nothing to do with God’s!
A vision from God will be based on the need and situation of the people; a vision of our own will be based/centered on us. Vision from God will benefit the people whereas “our own” vision will benefit us. So, when people talk about “vision”, we better see what kind of vision it is!
Joseph became a key person in saving the lives of people in the entire nation of Egypt and nations around it. When leaders have the true vision from God coupled with wisdom and knowledge, many people will be saved from destruction
When we have the spirit of God in us, we will be an asset to others, inside and outside church. God will help us in every area of our life and ministry; faith and duty!
May God bless your desire to have the vision and the spirit of God in you!
Have a blessed day!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your love and the greatest gift of yourself to us, as Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. I need the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that I can know you through the word, and discern your body and the times. Amen
“Where there is no vision, people perish; where there is vision, people flourish”
