Today: If God is not for us!
Passage: Amos 3 (NIV 84 & AMP)
6 When a trumpet(I) sounds in a city, do not the people tremble? When disaster(J) comes to a city,
has not the Lord caused it?(K) 7 Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan(L)
to his servants the prophets.(M) (Amos 3, NIV 1984)-emphasis added
The plans of the Lord are always for our blessings
But here we read about a disaster sent to a city, by God
God is not the author of disaster or destruction. But when His people sin, it hurts God more. So, sometimes God stretches His hands for discipline!
10 “I brought you up out of Egypt, and I led you forty years in the desert to give you the land of the Amorites.
11 I also raised up prophets from among your sons and Nazirites from among your young men. Is this not true, people of Israel?” declares the Lord. 12 “But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets not to prophesy. (Amos 2, NIV)
However, in the first scripture from Amos 3, we read that God would not do anything without informing His servants-the prophets
The prophets mentioned here are those who were very close with the Lord
They received from the Lord and brought it straight to the people
If we have time to pray and read the word, God will speak to us like a friend
He gave us the written word, Living word and the spoken word
Jesus as the living word and the Holy Spirit speaking/reminding the word to us, we can get the moment-by-moment, turn-by-turn guidance of the Lord
The book of Amos is about the judgement of the Lord, upon His people
These days, the “body of Christ”, His very own has detached from Christ
When the church becomes aimless and disconnected, it becomes like something that simply floats on water, and gets “attacked” by everything around
That is why it is important for every individaul, family and church to have a goal
And above all, it should be about pleasing the Lord. God allows our planning as long as it is within the master plan of God and as per His guidance
6 The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person. 7 Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you. (1 Sam 10, NIV)
Many failures in life happen because we make our own decisions without asking the Lord; a child of God should be “tuned” in to God for things big or small
Jesus made sure that He did everything in line with the Father
If a soldier or a law enforcement person is disconnected with the command center and does things on their own, they could end up in trouble
Have a blessed day, as we decide to turn and tune-in to God like never before!
Amen!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for another day. I admit that I do many things on my own, without your guidance. Let me wait till I hear from you, praying and meditating upon the word, and I am behind in doing so. So help me God; Amen
If we have the Lord with us and for us, it doesn’t matter who is not with us or not for us!
