Un-conscious of God?

Welcome!

Today: Un-conscious of God?

Passage: Ps 111

1 Praise the LORD.[b] I will extol the LORD with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. 2 Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them. 3 Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever. 4 He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
the LORD is gracious and compassionate.  (Ps 111, NIV 84) –emphasis added

This is one of those psalms with a “descriptive praise” for God

These psalmists found time to think and thank God for His goodness and greatness

They found time to worship and praise God; it doesn’t happen automatically

If we don’t find time to think of God and His works, it is only because we don’t know how important it is, and how beneficial it is

Many people don’t eat certain foods or do exercise until the doctor tells them something. That’s how most of us we are, with God!

People who have God’s wisdom will have the fear of God and vice-versa (v.10)

If you notice people who “play” church, having no fear of God, you will also notice that they have no wisdom,  and they do lot of foolish stuff!

Why is it that we often become unconscious of God?

Simple! We are over-conscious of ourselves; in other words, selfishness!

If Jesus chose to be (selfish) like us, we would have been in big trouble!

We often take God for granted. We go to God like we go to the doctor- when something happens!

But men of God like Moses and apostle Paul were less skilled in that area than us; They needed to communicate with God very often

The works of God are pondered by all who delight in them. The word of God is the masterpiece work of God, besides all other. When we take time to meditate and delight in God’s word, we are delighting in God’s work

What are the kind of thoughts we entertain and enjoy the most? Why not include “God’s word and His works” in that list?

Moses had the ten commandments on two tablets. Having come a long way,  we have many versions of the entire Bible in our tablets/phones/computers.

Only problem is that we are not very familiar with God’s stuff as much as we are with the other “apps” on our gadgets

God has time. If we have some time, He is available. No appointment needed.

May we turn a bit God-ward. We live in a time and day when people say “all things are possible with Gold”. In America, someone made it short and smart: “all things are possible” (and that’s it!). Yet, it is better to say what the Bible teaches us: ”all things are possible with God”. Trusting in God, we can accomplish much

Have a blessed,  God-conscious day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for being selfless and for being conscious of me. Help me lord, to get less selfish and be more conscious of you and others in my life. Sorry for taking you for granted and running a long way on my own. Love you.Amen

“we can’t focus on God and Gold at the same time; it is either the word or the world”
