Today: God did His best to make us His best!
Passage: 1 Peter 2
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2, NKJV) – emphasis added
Each one of us is special to God; but God looks at us as part of the whole
He sees us as part of the body of Christ, if we have Him as our Lord
If God was ever “selfish” about anything, that was about His people, not Himself!
Like how a mother chicken is protective of its little ones, God always protects and provides for us. God would do anything for His people. If anyone touches God’s own, God always acts on their behalf
In essence, God is about you and me. Jesus came here, lived, died and resurrected, all for you and for me. Even now, He is interceding, watching and waiting for us. He is busy preparing the place for His bride!
A chosen generation: God was pleased to choose us. His choice was based upon who He is. It was our depravity that qualified us to be chosen by God.
If we were perfect, He wouldn’t choose us. He chose us only because we needed Him so badly, and were helpless without Him. We have nothing to boast about it, and there is nothing we could do, towards “qualifying”. It’s all God’s work (2:10)
A royal priesthood: Jesus is the great high priest, who once and for all offered the FIRST and the LAST physical sacrifice needed for the remission of the sins of the entire humanity. We, being co-heirs with Jesus, qualify for the royal priesthood, which is so great a privilege. We have access to God’s most Holy place anytime. We don’t need to confess our sins to any priest here on earth because Jesus is our only High priest!
A holy nation: Is there a “holy nation” on earth? All earthly nations have enough sin in them. But God has made a Holy nation- the kingdom of God. When the Holy God Himself is the King of that nation, that nation got to be Holy.
He made us royal citizens of His nation. We should be proud of that citizenship more than any other citizenship in the world. There is only so much your country will do for you. But God did the most for His own, and He will go to any extent, for His own!
His own Special people: God was so particular to have a group of people as His own. He did not pick the best, but the worst! Then He made us the best.
There are certain companies who don’t pick the best, but picks the “average” and make them the best. If you are broken and rejected, you will qualify easily
26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him (1 Cor 1, NIV)- emphasis added

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for choosing me to this great and precious position, making me part of a Holy nation, a royal prieshood, chosen generation and very special people. Let my very life be the “thanks” to you. Amen
