Today: His own special people!
Passage: 1 Peter 2
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. (1 Peter 2, NKJV) – emphasis added
Just like how Jesus himself was a “rejected stone” while He was Heaven’s best, God had the grace and mercy to choose you and me to be part of everything that is in heaven. The difference is that Jesus paid all the cost and we are getting such a precious salvation and all the benefits and inheritance completely FREE!
If someone gave us a vacation package which includes free travel by air, a week’s accommodation in a five-star hotel, free food etc., how would we feel?
I am sure we will be very excited. But then how much more we should be excited, to get such a privilege as this, the salvation of our souls from hell to heaven and spending our lives eternally with God in heaven- not as a customer, but as a son/daughter and having angels at our service………?
God gave us the inheritance of all that is in heaven. In other words, He gave us the ownership deed. It’s not like we get a certain portion as ours, but everybody owns the whole because we are co-heirs with Jesus Christ!
All that heaven expects from us is to be thankful to God for that
Our “thanks” should not be the way we say “thanks” to others, but it should be more than that; through a lifestyle of thanks, praise and worship
God chose us from darkness to light. It’s only when people come into this light that they will know how dark it was with the devil, and about all his tricks, traps and tactics he had “prepared” in advance for us. On the contrary, God had prepared such a great salvation for us, in advance
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (John 10, NKJV)
Jesus told the truth; yet many a time, we believe the lies of the devil!
It is not through men of other religions that the devil speaks to us; more often than that, he picks some of those who claim to be “God’s own” and speaks through them. Satan takes some of those great preachers and pastors and seduces them to speak for him. As they live the lives that pleases satan, he comfortably abides in them and speaks through their mouth
It is very important that we compare the preachings, teachings and styles of these “ministers of the gospel” and accept only that which aligns with God’s word

Prayer: Father God, we thank you for accepting us into this precious privilege of making us your very own, special people, heirs of all that is yours and co-heirs with Jesus Christ. Help me to handle it right and do what I must do. Amen
“Trying to mix God’s light in us with devils’ darkness, will be like mixing drinking and driving; we will never go straight, and will reach an entirely different, unexpected place!”
