What are you craving for?

Welcome!

Today: What are you craving for?

Passage: 1 Peter 2

2 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,[a] 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (1 Peter 2, NKJV) – emphasis added

The exhortation to desire the pure milk of the word of God is only for thiose who have tasted the grace of God!

For many of us born and brought up in Christian families, we may not have such a strong desire or craving (NIV) for the word because we have not really tasted the grace of God. But many who have come from other backgrounds crave for the word because thay have really tasted the grace of God

There are some foods/restaurants that really get into people’s heart. They will “crave” for that food because it was so tasty and delicious!

I have seen long lines infront of certain restaurants because of the demand for their food. I rarely see such lines outside churches, except when people line up for the “soup kitchen program” where they get food and stuff

Wherever Jesus went, people were rushing to see and hear Him. He had some “good stuff” with Him!

Psalm 119 is all about the word of God. In other psalms also we see how the psalmist was waiting for the dawn to come so that they could read the word and meditate upon it. They didn’t have electricity or TV. Their eye-pad was darkness. So they waited for the morning, and read the word more than us!

Those who have tasted and seen that the Lord is good, will crave for God-stuff!

These days, there are many who sincerely desire for some good word or prayer

Since many pastors and preachers are busy with politics, it is really hard to find someone who could really minister some good stuff to the people

When I was in college, I remember my friend Jerry used to say about going home on vacation; “I need to have some good, homely food”

We had good food in the hostel, but mom’s food was always different

There are so many “ministries” out there, but how much of real, original stuff from God’s kitchen is available?

Peter is not only encouraging them to have good food but also to walk good- to get rid of all bad stuff like malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking!

That is where Christ makes a difference with others. If Christ is in, the neighbor will know!

Instead of pots and pans flying around, they will hear prayers and praises

They will see Jesus through our actions and words. Most of the time, you get the right picture of a person from someone outside the church, because in the church, all they see is our mask, not the real “me”

God bless your day. If we don’t crave for the word, we are sick. Get to the physician of physicians ASAP

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your grace and mercy showered upon me. I have not found anyone else like you and will never find one. I admit that I lost my hunger and thirst for you somewhere. Put it back in me please. Thank you. Amen

There are so many “hell’s kitchen”s out there but not that many heaven’s kitchen”s!
