Did you worship Jesus?

 Welcome!

Today: Did you worship Jesus?

Passage: Matt. 2

10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. (Mat 2, NIV)- emphasis added

23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24
God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”  (John 4, NIV)-emphasis added

It is normal for people to come and see a baby and even bring presents

But the Magi worshipped Jesus, and offered their gifts to Jesus, not to Mary

These wise men knew who Jesus was; they knew what worship was, and who should be worshipped

Today, one of the problems in the Church is that people don’t really know who Jesus is or what worship is. Many people have no personal relationship with Jesus. They sing songs, but do not even think about the meaning of the words.

Sometime back, a young preacher was talking about songs like “I surrender all” that we sing in Church. If we have not fully surrendered our life to Jesus, we should be careful when we sing such songs because it is unto the Lord we sing!

Worship is serious. We need to get a clear vision of God and make a confession of our sins, before we worship God. It is O.K to spend few moments to just prepare
ourself for worship. God likes that

To the Samaritan woman in John 4, Jesus mentioned about “true worshippers”

So there are true worshippers and there are those who are not true!

If we are just copying others and worshipping just becase they are worshipping, , it is not the kind of worship God expects

Even in corporate worship like in Church, each one should worship personally

Worship is our personal, inner response to who God is, and as to what He means to us. We need a personal knowledge/experience of God before we worship Him

Worship should come from the spirit, not the tongue. It should be true, not fake

The ultimate thing in worship is not that people should say “good worship”, but that God should say that He is pleased with us and our worship

God bless your day

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I worship you from the depth of my heart. There is no one like you and no one else has done for me what you have done for me. You kept me safe and sound throughout the year. I love you, and I mean it. Amen

“True worship is about pleasing God, not people or even ourselves”
