Today: God-our role-model for humility
Passage: Ephesians 6
5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free. (Eph 6, NIV)- emphasis added
Apostle Paul advices slaves to work whole heartedly, for their masters
That doesn’t mean Paul is supporting slavery. He is only talking about a true Christian’s attitude towards work and his/her superiors
If someone is not committed to their job, that doesn’t look good, being a Christian. Work is next to worship
And for those who are committed, God will lift them up at the right time
When we drive (work) too slow, it will take more time to reach the “cross-road” called promotion. Ultimately when promotion comes from God, no man can stop it!
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. (James 4)
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”[a] 6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s
mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5, NIV)
Paul, Peter and James write the same thing. Humility and submission pays
When we see children of God behave in a worldly manner, full of pride, it gives the wrong message to the world
When any government behave like private, it sends the wrong message as well!
Government must be about service, than profit. But today, we hear them talking about making profit, by firing hundreds of thousands of people from various jobs!
That sounds more like private firms, than government!
Church also sometimes behave like that. Instead of service, many other things have become the motive. When church looses its true motive, it ceases to be Church any more. Many are more comparable to clubs where people are entertained, than to pray and worship!
Our attitude to worship and work must be based on love and commitment
There are many ways one can humble themselves before God
Our humility will be revealed, by the way we think/treat others
When we disregard others, God may treat us the same way
Fasting is also a means of humbling, before God
May God help us to stay humble and committed

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for humbling yourself and becoming a sacrifice for me and saving me. Help me to have the same attitude and be helpful to others. Help me to be totally committed in worship and work. Amen
