When we turn away from God!

Welcome!

Today: When we turn away from God!

Passage: Eph 4

11 “Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘This is what the LORD says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.’ 12 But they will reply, ‘It’s no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.’”  (Jeremiah 18, NIV)

Our Lord is a loving, caring God. God loves all people, sinners and saints

However, God hates sin, especially when it is seen among His own

Prophet Isaiah had this scary revelation of himself that he was not as holy as he thought. Living among people with unclean lips, he admits he also was a man of unclean lips. He really was, and he really repented and came out of it!

5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the LORD Almighty.”

6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” (Isaiah 6, NIV)

When we live among people who consider it “O.K” to carry on with certain trends that are sinful in God’s eyes, we also may have a tendency to follow that trend and think that it is not so sinful to do that; “everybody else is doing it!”

When prophet Isaiah admitted his sin, one of the seraphs touched his tongue with a hot coal and that habit was taken away from him, and his sins were atoned for; it was not a pleasant thing for his tongue to get a “hot coal” treatment!

We need a “hot coal” treatment from God, for some of our habits

It could be gluttony, gossip, watching bad things on the internet/TV or spending too much time on useless things. Deal with it!

When children go to school/college, they may hear lot of filthy language from others, and may think it is O.K; it is our duty to tell them what is right and what is not right, in God’s eyes. The wrong habits will also steal our blessings away!

Sometimes the government may O.K things that are in contradiction with the word of the God. God created man and woman; He also instituted marriage

We need to tell the next generation what is right and what is wrong, in the light of God’s word. In the worldly Government, they go by majority.

In God’s government, it should go by what the word of God says

But the very Church, in most cases has started to compromise with the world, going by what the majority says. That is when the judgment comes on God’s own!

Pray, preach and practice the pattern of God’s word, and we will be blessed

Amen!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I have been thinking certain things were O.K because everyone else was doing it. But I know that all things are not O.K just because others see it as O.K. Help me to get rid of my bad habits, Lord. Amen
