Today: God first

Passage: Ps 63:1-3 NIV

1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.

In a dry and weary land, where his body must be longing for some water or some nice food and a comfortable place to stay,

The psalmist is declaring that his highest passion and longing is for God, and not for any of the material or physical stuff

Living in a materialistic world, how much are we connected to God?

How much priority do we give to the things of God?

We can answer that question by simply looking at how much of our time we separate for the things of God

How is our meditation of God’s word? How is our prayer life?

If we are looking to God for answers in any area of our life, first go to God

It could be about our finances, job, children, their education or character

It could be about our family; it could be about legal issues

Instead of worrying or screaming at someone, go to God in prayer.

Because Jesus said:

7“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. (Mat 7: 7-8, NIV-emphasis added)

Many a time, we struggle because we do not bring many issues to God

God has the answer. Even if your car gets broken, or you need to fix something at home or work, bring it all to God first

He is the expert in all areas. He will guide you

If our connection with God is really good, we will love to tell Him everything

The psalmist says,

2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. (Ps 63: 2-3, NIV)

He has experienced the goodness of God; he has seen the glory of God

He has experienced that the love of God is even better than life

His lips keep praising God; the songs in his mouth, in his ears are not the music that kills, but it is the songs of praise and worship, which gives life and strength

What are you listening to? What are you watching? What are you reading?

Those things control your life and future

Be careful how we spent our time

There is music out there that leads people into sin and crime

But there is also good music that will give you life and strength

Let our hearts be filled with a passion for God and good things

We live in a world where anything can happen anytime

Our ultimate safety and security is in the hands of God, not in any military strength or government

May the things of God become our priority; He alone can really save us from all kinds of situations

Stay blessed

Prayer: Lord, fill me with passion and love for you. Many things of the world and its pressure tend to take me away from you. Open my inner eyes and restore me O God. Amen.
