Lord will reward

Welcome!

Today: Lord will reward

Passage: Mark 9

6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, 8 because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free. (Eph 6, NIV)-emphasis added

We live at a time when “ethics” is not given the importance it deserves

When we “pray big” on Sunday and then live a totally different life Monday through Saturday, people get confused. They ask, “how is that possible?”

That is the major reason why “God” does not impress people, in many cases.

“Commitment” must be part of a Christian’s life; commitment to Christ, family, work are all part of that. How “they” treat us must have nothing to do with our character. If we are committed, God will reward/take care of us.

Mother Teresa was committed to her duty. It took a long time before she was “recognized”; she was not looking for anybody’s  recognition!

Many people want things to fall in their basket without doing anything. They keep “several” baskets open in several places and go sleeping- only to see nothing fell in any of them!

When God gave manna and quail to Israelites, they had to gather it themselves. Faith involves some work or act of faith. God does not appreciate faith without action. Abraham “proved” his faith by obeying God

One of the major problems with the disciples of Jesus was that they were very much concerned “who was the greatest or best” among them

When someone brought their child to be prayed, they could not do anything (Mark 9). They were very busy with “their own” stuff

That is very much the picture of the Church today. “Church” is very busy with all kinds of programs,
while many are “dying” outside.

Unless we change that attitide, nothing will work. We have to be somewhat like Christ, or change our name from “Christian” to something else

May God bless you and your work

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for being my role model. In you, I find true commitment, love, sacrifice and action. Help me to resemble you in my life so that I will make some sense to others, calling myself a “Christian”. Amen
