Having a heart like David’s!

Welcome!

Today: Having a heart like David’s!

Passage:  Psalm 40 (NIV)Isaiah 40 (NKJV)

4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.[b] 5 Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare (Ps 40, NIV)-emphasis added

The major hindrance to acknowledging and praising God, is our pride

God has great plans for us; but that alone will not do any good

I will make it clear. A parent may have great plans for the son/daughter; but if that son/daughter  does not cooperate and work accordingly, those ”great plans” don’t mean anything!

When we make our own plans, we forget that God has plans for us

One day, one of my friend texted me this verse:

11” For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer 29, NIV)

If God’s plans for us are geared towards our blessing, then why not accept it?

These days, with the latest technology, we can do so many things, regardless of our location. What I am doing from my home, I/you can do from anywhere!

So, no one can blame God for what they are not doing for the Lord!

It is all about our attitude; if there is a will, there is a way. Isn’t that true?

Through this psalm, we can know the heart of the psalmist

Today, there is so much of superficial spirituality out there

It is like the calm, still, ” skin” of water on the top and underneath could be all messed up!

There may be so much of the “world” under that top layer, but people hardly have any idea of that. There is much “show” and  even “praise and worship” and stuff like that, but in many cases, that could just be the “skin”!

Unless we become spiritual inside as we are on the outside,  our prayers and praise from our mouth don’t reach God: guaranteed!

We can have all the best “praise and worship”, and yet God may not understand a bit of it! It is all about having the mind of Christ (regardless of age).

What we see throughout this psalm, is that kind of a humility

If that humility is not there, God does not care about anything we say of Him!

If we go straight from sin to praise, how can God’s name be blessed?

Having a “great” feeling may have nothing to do with God; it is just a feeling

Many people feel “great” about the sinful things they do, and even share it with pride!

Satan is so tricky. He will fill us with “feelings” instead of faith!

So, don’t trust much in your feeling; instead, ask God in tears: “Lord, are you pleased with me-and my praises?”

Wherever we go, even if it is for a party, keep eyes wide open to see if there is something you can do, to glorify the name of God

That is what Jesus did, when He went for a wedding  inCana

God has great plans for you, whether you know it or not

So, cheer up and ask God to guide you daily in His plan

Stay blessed!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your plans for me. You are great and your plans for me are great! I struggled like Peter “all night” and didn’t get anything. So, I am going to spend some time with you and you tell me what to do. Love you! Amen

If our praises don’t reach God, His blessings may not  reach us!
