What a family-friend we have, in God !

Welcome!

Today: What a family-friend we have, in God !

Passage: 1 Peter 3

1 Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4 Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. (1 Peter 3, NIV 84) –emphasis added

The Bible does say certain things about marriage and family, and they are significant. What the Bible does not say, we better not say much about it

The Bible does not say much about how younger the wife should be or what should be the wifes’s profession and things like that. It is not wrong if a man want his wife to be younger by so many years or to say that “all I want is a …….(profession)” or so, but the Bible does not specify all of that. Don’t blame God afterwards!

What the Bible does say is helpful to stay married, once we make the choice. God does not interfere with our choices. He is such a good father..!

Relationship and responsibility are keys to marriage. Everyone goes through various tides and ripples, but make sure we have God with us at all times

Submission is an attitude, which we learn from Jesus. He always submitted to the father. Even if we don’t learn anything else from Jesus’ earthly life, that one thing (submission) alone is enough! It is worth a study!

The more Jesus submitted to the father, the more authority and power He had!

Is n’t that something encouraging for wives? (Try it out!)

Satan is so scared of someone submissive to higher authorities. Satan hates submission. He controls by slavery, threat, cheating, lust and use of force.  If a man uses any of these on the spouse instead of love, that is not from God!

Next, (v.3) we read about the adornment of a woman. Bible says that the true adornment of a person is not in anything external, but internal.

(Caution: If you use this verse to “prove” that wearing jewelery is sin, make sure that you include “fine clothes” together with it at all times)

The theme in these four verses is character, and not anything else

Character is what matters in marriage than money, materials or anything else

How or how young the wife is (or looks) is not a problem, as long as the two can agree and walk side by side. Others don’t decide how the husband and wife should treat each other. Many marriages are spoiled by (wrong) friends and families, whereas many have also been “saved” by the right ones. It all depends on who we listen to and what they say. The best thing is to listen to God and His word

May God give you a blessed day. Let today’s devotion not spoil your day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for reminding me about the realities and responsibilities of family. I see that there is a bunch of wrong practices out there, but help live by your advice and not of others. Thank you Lord; Amen

“If we involve/allow God to work in our marriage, He will do a perfect job. If we let anyone else do it, you know what…!”
