The struggle for power (from below)!

Welcome!

Today: The struggle for power (from below)!

Passage: 1 John 2

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. (1 John 2, NKJV) –emphasis added

The three “L”s: The Lust of the flesh, Lust of the eyes and the pride of Life!

If we have them with us, we can make a “succesfuL” trip to heLL!

Or, get away from them and be on the way to heaven

“Power” is so powerful; once somebody becomes greedy of power, they won’t take their hands off, even on death-bed!

Some of the power-struggles in christian organizations/church leadership is shameful! It looks like there are only one or two people who will pass that baton/ball all the time between them, while many others are gazing upon this ongoing game, for decades!

Leaders need to be role-models for the believers. But if they just become “models” themselves and get into the “battle-field” of power and politics, they will loose the ministry and anointing of God they once probably had!

In the first century church, Peter and others selected a man named “Mathias” by vote, in place of Judas Isacriot (before they received the power from above).

I believe, God’s pick was apostle Paul!

There is always a “God’s pick” who remains “behind the curtain”!

Instead  of getting “crazy” about positions and power in the world, (even when it is in religious organizations), it is time for some of us to get crazy about the power from above. God is waiting for some like that

Ask yourself this question: “Do I need what God gives or what people give?; Do I need power from above or below?”

It takes time and devotion-to wait in the presence of the Lord. (Acts 1:4,5)

The disciples of Jesus wanted Him to become some kind of a “star” just like the “disciples” of some of these leaders today. But Jesus never gave-in to their “dreams” or “wishes”. Jesus boldly said “No”

He knew what He came for, who He was and what His call and commitment was!

It is better to always remind ourselves of God’s calling upon our lives so that we can stay on track and reach the finishing point!

Many who think they will make it, won’t be there; and vice-versa!

Many Pastors and Leaders will be “missing”!

May you be blessed to stay on track and make it!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for being my role-model. You were never crazy of any power or position in this world, except the cross. Your sacrifice and suffering gave me substance and success in my life. Thank you for being there for me. Amen
