One God and one gospel for one body

Welcome!

Today: One God and one gospel for one body

Passage: 1 Peter 1

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1, NIV84) –emphasis added

18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20 which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, (Eph 1, NIV)-emph. added

The two scripture portions above are taken from two different letters/epistles written by two different persons – Peter and Paul

They were contemporaries in ministry, but they did not make very good companions

They had differences/disagreements on certain topics/issues, but the gospel they both preached was the same. It was from the same source!

God assigned Paul to minister to the greeks/gentiles whereas Peter was assigned mainly to the Jews. However, Peter was assigned to minister to Cornelius, (Acts 10) thereby opening the ministry to gentiles. God wanted to break that little ego in Peter, in ministering to/associating with the gentiles.

God calls each person for a certain type of ministry; but sometimes, He gives us opportunities in various types of ministries, so that we are not strangers to some of them. It is like we study different subjects in college, even while we major in just one. So, let’s not say “No” to those “unfamiliar” subjects/situations/experiences that God allows/brings into our life!

Peter and Paul emphasized on the living hope, our glorious inheritance in God/ God’s inheritance in us and the incomparably great power of God that is ours through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from among the dead

The resurrection happened in the past, the great power is for the present, and the hope is for the future. Our inheritance is from day 1 we met Christ, until eternity- for the past, present and future

Father, Son and Holy Spirit- the God head-took care of our past, present and future. We don’t have to worry about it any more. Just hand it over to God.

God will fix all areas of our life- whether it be spiritual, physical, material or emotional- whether it be about ourselves/children. Just hand it over to God!

Have a blessed day!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your saving love, your power and the great hope I have in you. Thankyou for being gracious to provide me with your incomparably great power.. Help me to manifest that power in and through me, every day. Amen
