Today: Keep the blessing
Passage: Mark 9 (NIV)
33 They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” 34 But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.
28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.[b]”
38 “Teacher,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” (emphasis added in all three references above)
Three major issues affecting the churches adversely: 1. Fights/competition within 2. Competition without (with other churches) 3. Lack of prayer
The three major areas of satan’s attack are: the individual, the family and the Church. Satan attcks all three
Issues affecting the family are those similar to issues affecting Church:
Fights within, competition with others and lack of prayer; they drain our blessings
Even when big competition is going on within, there is “jealousy” with others
I have heard a story about a man who was planning to buy a car
He shared his plans with a neighbor. Next day, he saw an expensive car in the neighbour’s driveway. He couldn’t take that!
He asked: “Lord, what is this? How come he get that?”
He felt like a voice telling: “That car is more costly to maintain. He will go “broke” soon”.
Immediately the man prayed: “Lord, give him a Rolls Royce if you can, and give me a cheaper, smaller car than the one I was planning to buy!”
(The jealousy of some people can get us blessings from God!)
Though humorous, it tells us some truth
We should know the tactics of the devil and get closer to God. Greed, jealosy and the such should not have any place in our life, if we want to be blessed

Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me understand the ways in which devil works, and to remember that my fight is not with another individual/family/ church, but is against the devil. Help me to be more careful and prayerful. Amen
