Love that triggers submission

Welcome!

Today: Love that triggers submission

Passage: Eph 5

22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Eph 5, NIV)

As we travel through the book of Ephesians, we come across some very important life-principles. Some agree with them, some don’t

When we really understand what the Bible says, we won’t disgaree with it

Marriage is defined by God and His word. Nowadays, people are “redefining” it, in their own terms. The modern definition of marriage is based on “how we want it” instead of what it was meant to be, or as to how God wants it to be

In the above verse (which is much liked by men), what does “submission” really mean?

It is written, “Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord”

In other words, the husband should be more like the Lord than like the devil, and the wife (will) submit to him

Husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of the Church

The headship of Christ is to be understood properly. It is a lot different from “headship” in the secular world. Jesus once wrapped a towel around His waist and washed the feet of His disciples. It is a position of service and sacrifice

Christian (Biblical) submission is one that is rooted in love, not force

Christ gave himself up for the Church. Christ loved the Church with His life

When we understand the true relationship between Christ and the Church, “submission” will not be an issue of concern at all!

The wife submits to the husband and the husband submits to Christ

Jesus submitted Himself to the Father. We should submit to Him

Christ – the head supplies the body-His church, with all emotional, spiritual and physical support needed.

In a “what can I get?” world, we are called to live a “what can I give?” life

May our lives be blessed with the beauitiful blend of love and submission!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for the gift of life, love and family. Help us to truly follow the principles of your word in our personal as well as family life, and be blessed and to be a blessing to many. Amen

“God does not demand submission; His love only compells us to submit”
