Today: Take root in His love, His word


Passage: Eph 3


And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. (Eph 3, NIV 84)-emphasis added


The way to have power, is through love; being rooted and established in love!

Being rooted, speaks about a vertical growth; being established, about the horizontal spread

When we try to expand without growing deeper (in Christ), there is a problem;

Failure is imminent. It is better to take root-in the word, before expanding

Whether it be an individual/organization or church, the craving for “quick growth” can be deceiving and dangerous!

Once we are rooted and established in love, we will receive power from above

We read, “together with all the saints” soon after the word “power”

In the Kingdom of God, “power” is not for individual use or show; it is for the common good (of others) in God’s kingdom

In Acts 3, we see Peter and John working together. They met a man begging at the temple gate; the man was healed instantly, through their “joint” ministry!

Throughout the book of Acts, we see the disciples moving in groups of two at least, most of the time

This is our master’s work. Let the credit go to Him, not me!

The reason why God’s name is not being glorified in many places is because someone else is trying to steal it and make it their own-to make themselves known

“Power” and “knowledge” are in great demand among people; the Jews demanded signs and the Greeks- knowledge, but Paul was all about the cross and the love of Christ. Paul put love first, followed by faith & hope, power and knowledge!

The way to grow to fullness or maturity, is by being filled with God’s Love

Whether it be life or Church, it is so dry without the love of Christ

“Love is the oil that lubricates the machinery of our lives”-read somewhere

Has our “Missionary Churches” become “machinery churches”-that do the same thing over and over, again and again, week after week?

Think about it. Our “mechanical” lives should change to become more lively, lovely!

Add a few drops of the love oil-agape love, to it

In the market, some of them mix sugar with honey and sell it as “pure honey”

May be they used pure sugar. But the love of Christ is the only love in its purest form. Christ was 100% selfless, to die for His enemies!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I need to be filled with your love. I need to look at people and circumstances through your eyes, not mine. Help me to be a blessing to someone out there, just like you. Thank you; Amen
