Welcome!
Today: Significant to God
Passage: 1 Kings 18
22 Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the LORD’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets. 23 Get two bulls for us. Let them choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. 24 Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD. The god who answers by fire—he is God.” (1 Kings 18, NIV)-emphasis added
With Elijah on one side and Baal’s 450 prophets on the other, Elijah would have looked “insignificant” to himself
Baal was considered the “god of the rain and fertility” by the people.
The people of God are not a majority in many places. There are also many “hiding believers”. They don’t come to light, for various reasons
But when someone dares to stand up for God, God takes a stand for them
God honored Elijah, even though he was alone. God is about quality than quantity; availability than ability
Fire came upon Elijah’s offering and burnt even the water he poured around the altar. Elijah didn’t make it any light for God
In Acts 2, we see that on the day of Pentecost, the fire of Holy Spirit came upon 120 people in the upper room
There were thousands of people gathered nearby for the festival. But God’s power came upon this group of a hundred +. God was pleased with them
What matters is not how significant you look in your own eyes or of others
You may be alone; you may be a small church; you may not have a great job or qualification; your job may be lost or is in trouble; may be you are dealing with a physical /emotional problem; you may be “insignificant” in your own family
The question is: “Are you significant for God?” The answer is, “yes”
Once the “fire” of God’s power & favor falls upon a person, they can no longer be the same. God likes to shower His spiritual blessings upon us
A family/church that allows this fire of God to fall on them will be blessed
It is definitely a unique sight to see hundreds of thousands of people coming together and worshipping God. At the same time, God is also pleased with just two people coming together and worshipping God, in unity
God’s peace!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you for the promise of your presence, as we sincerely come before you-alone, or in a group of two or more. Your greatness is your humility. Help us to have the same attitude as you. Amen.
