When the Lord is your (only) support!

Welcome!

Today: When the Lord is your (only) support!

Passage: Psalm 18, Jermiah 17

16 He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters.
17 He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me.
18 They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. (Psalm 18, NIV 84)

David was anointed of God; he kept the anointing, unlike King Saul

It is one thing to receive it from the Lord; another, to keep it

Many have “messed” with things of God and lost the power of the anointing

Many servants of God got into that politics and lost their ministry, their anointing; once lost, it is difficult to get it back. Loosing is easy!

Thereafter, you don’t see that power in their ministry!

It is very important how far you go, getting into church politics and stuff like that; stay away from whatever you can, to keep the ministry and the anointing God has given you

When you have that anointing in you, it is protection from God as well

Saul could not get David even with all his tricks and tactics because David was always thinking of God, not Saul!

That is why David could boldly say, “the Lord was my support”!

Who is your support?

If it is God who truly is your support, good; if you trusted in any human being, your case is doubtful!

5 This is what the LORD says:  “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD. He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives. 7 “But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. 8 He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” (Jeremiah 17, NIV 84)-emphasis added

God compares the man who trusts in other people, to a bush in the wastelands; one who trusts in God, to a tree planted by the water

As we look for more and more independence from God, better be careful!

We cannot be independent of God-never!

If we will choose to be with God, he will choose to be with us

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:7-8, NIV 84)-emphasis added

We need to take the initiative, to go to God, more than going to our gadgets Get “addicted” to God, not the gadgets; it is possible!

God bless you!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I am sorry for trusting in man and many other things instead of putting you first and making you my primary support. Help to keep it that way, that you will be my best friend and support. Amen
