Today: Unless the Lord builds!
Passage: Luke 14, Psalm 127
28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’ (Luke 14, NIV 84)-emphasis added
God finishes what He starts; otherwise, He won’t start
God likes to build, to create; He is the greatest Architect and builder
Jesus designed the Church; He said, “I will build my Church”
He counted the cost, before starting to build. He said, “I will”
Unless the Lord builds, anything we build is in vain
God will let man go with his “projects” up until a certain time
But when it is about to reach the “sky”, He will just make himself known
3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rocks[a] and make your home on the heights, you who say to yourself, ‘Who can bring me down to the ground?’ Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down,” declares the LORD. (Obadiah 1:3-4, NIV 84)-emphasis added
God will let man go up to a certain height before He comes down and let himself known, in some way or other
That is what God did with the Tower of Babel
It is not only in the physical but also in the spiritual realm we see this trend
People build things up for themselves in the name of God
Finally, one day it collapses and makes news
1 Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. (Psalm 127, NIV 84)
If we want to build something, it is better to consult God first; do it His way!
The largest auto maker was hit with several recalls; the nations that were once on the top are now coming down and others are going up. The stock value of some of the companies/banks which were on the top came down to near zero!
Pharaoh was the strongest ruler and Egypt was the most powerful of the times, until God sent His judgment one day.
The kingdom of God will never be affected because it is God who is building it
Organizations and denominations might fall but His kingdom will not!
Don’t put too much trust in any profession, company or anything else!
Put your trust in the Lord alone. He is a friend so true. He is able
