God, our Commander-in-chief!

Welcome!

Passage: 2 Kings 2: 15-22 (NIV 84) Isaiah 62 (NIV 84)

Today: God, our commander-in-chief!

19 The men of the city said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.20 “Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him. 21 Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the Lord says: ‘I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.’” 22 And the water has remained wholesome to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken. (2 Kings 2, NIV 84) emphasis added

The town/ land/ nation is well situated, but there is a problem!

Jericho was once a city with its head high, until Joshua and his team got into it

That day, the giant walls of the city came down. What man put up, God brought down!

There is a man by name Namaan mentioned in the book of kings. He was holding a very high position, but he had leprosy (2 Kings 5).

Elisha took care of the problem. Namaan was healed, but first he had to deal with his pride and prejudice!

All that looks strong and mighty, goes through such a process

Today, is there a nation which can claim “the world listens to us”? Can UN say that?

It is the Lord’s doing; He(God) is, and will be the commander-in-chief!

In the city of Jericho, Elisha got his first assignment. The water was bad, so the entire city became bad!

It doesn’t matter what facilities and what infrastructure a city has; if there is not enough good water, that city is no good!

Lack of water and pollution of the land, water and air has crippled many cities

Elisha knew what to do; the God of Joshua was his God too.

He did a “strange-looking” thing. He asked for a new bowl, put some salt in it and put the salt in the water. The entire water was healed, and so did the land

It looks like the salt did it all, but that’s not the case:

22 And the water has remained wholesome to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken. (2 kings 2, NIV ’84- emphasis added)

It was the word of faith spoken by Elisha that brought the miracle!

The bowl and the salt were symbolic!

Jesus came into the world; His entrance into this world changed everything. Like a seed of wheat, He “fell” on this ground and died. From that came out the living church, that has all the power of Jesus!

The presence of the body of Christ is healing to the cities, the land, and the nation!

This is time for the church to fall on its knees and then rise up to the situation!

We don’t have Joshua or Elisha with us today, but the God of Joshua and Elisha is with us. We cannot put too much trust in any man and say, “so and so will save our nation”; only the God of heaven can do it!

And He does it through the true church- the body of Christ, which is you and me!

Have a blessed day!
