Today: God’s call on you is strong, straight and specific!
Passage: 1 Peter 1
1 He said to me, “Son of man, stand up on your feet and I will speak to you.” 2 As he spoke, the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet, and I heard him speaking to me. (Ezekiel 2, NIV84) –emphasis added
God called Ezekiel to be a prophet to the people of God who were in exile. (3:11)
Ezekiel was not born as a prophet. God made him one. He had no choice but to accept. The call was so strong, straight and specific
God told him all the “bad” before setting out. The people of Israel would not listen to him. That was their typical reaction to all the prophets of God!
God’s justice is in His word. During the time of Noah, God let the whole world know what was going to happen-not one was left. No one could say, “I didn’t hear”!
Many a time, we comfort ourselves saying “Jesus won’t come anytime soon because there are many more who need to hear the gospel”. But if someone died without hearing it, God has His own ways of dealing with them. We have to be sure that we will not be left behind, at His coming
God told Ezekiel to stand up, so that God could speak to him. We need to stand up from among those who are sleeping, so that God could speak to us. When Ezekiel was willing, God himself made him stand!
It is only by God’s help/grace that we can stand up. But it is important that we stand up for God, instead of continuing to sit or sleep!
Ezekiel was instructed to eat the word and then speak to the people (3:1-)
When a preacher/pastor/prophet does not spent time with the word of God in prayer before they preach, it is not going to touch anybody
But when the word that we receive from the Lord is preached/published, it will do its work. The word of God has life. It will revive, renew and restore the people!
When God spoke, the Spirit came to Ezekiel and raised him to his feet
The word of God is Spirit. But the manifestation of the Spirit also depends on who speaks it. When some people speak the word of God, people sit like “dead”!
When Peter preached in Cornelius’ house (Acts 10) the Spirit of God came upon them. Also, on the day of Pentecost, the spirit worked in the hearts of 3000 people who heard the word. It is all about a person who is broken, melted and moulded by God!
Ezekiel and all the prophets whom God send to His people, went through that process. Allow God to do the same with us, if we want to be “a mouth” for God!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for speaking to me. Forgive me for being stubborn and for not allowing you to break, melt and mold me. Help me to understand the times you deal with me, and to yield completely. Thank you Lord. Amen.
