Passage: 1 Peter 2


1Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, 2 as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,[a] 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.   (1 Peter 2, NKJV) – emphasis added


That which is born of God will live like one

God made Adam in God’s likeness and image. Adam and Eve had the glory of God upon them. They had the likeness of God, in being tri-partiate beings with the spirit, soul and body. When they sinned, they lost the image- the glory

When we are born-again by the word of God and the spirit of God, we are entering into that image of God. In the spiritual realm, we are elevated to be the children of God with all its rights, privileges, inheritance and authority!

We become heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus Christ, for FREE! (Jesus paid it all!)

The sad thing is that we have many in the church today, who are not born again

Many of them are baptized and even claim to be spirit-filled!

Here, Peter is encouraging the believers to get rid of some bad stuff and take-in the pure milk, the word of God. When we are too busy to do that, we are starving the spiritual man in us, and will remain as a spiritual baby. When these “babies” cry together, it is very difficult for one man or two to manage them. Moses had a real problem with Israelites, in the wilderness journey

We need to be childlike and mature; we ended up being childish instead!

If we allow the word to get into us and work in us, it will “flush-out” the evil in us. The word of God and the Holy Spirit are soul-cleaners (John 15:3, 16:8)

When we grow spiritually, we will be filled with divine knowledge and understanding. We will understand that we belong to the Lord, and so does the church. It is God’s thoughts that prevail in the end

In his famous gettysburgh address (Nov 19, 1863)- one of the shortest ever addresses (speeches) in the history, (under three minutes) President Abraham Lincoln stated: ”—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth” (source: Wikipedia)

President Lincoln’s address changed the course of the civil war

The kingdom of God, by God and for His people -a kingdom that shall never perish, is what Jesus established, and called it the Church. And God shall come down with counter-part from heaven and the two shall join together to become one!

And in that kingdom, malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and evil speaking have no place!

The language of that kingdom is one of peace, love and respect

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your saving love. As each day passes, help me to be more like you, in my thoughts, words and actions. I know you have a plan for me, my family and the church. Let thy plans succeed above everything else. Amen
